I'm trying to hold off on the series because I hear people complain about waiting for the next book. If I won, I would probably be forced to get the first book and read them both. Such is life.

You have a new facebook fan :)

I choose....ARGH!! This is a really hard choice..but I choose PEETA!! Now, I'm only on the first chapter of Catching Fire since school's killing me right now - so Peera might have an unfair advantage. However, my reason is that Peeta has already shown Kat how much he loves her, everything he went through, and it hurts him that Kat might not love him back. And Gale..well, he had his chance to truly profess his love to her and just hinting about spending their future together doesn't count. ;)
    Also, +1 fan on facebook!

I would have to say Peeta. No matter how much I love Gale, he tends to act out of emotion. Peeta on the other hand has had the same consistant feelings for Katniss for many years. Peeta also would do anything to protect Katniss, whether it is physically or emotionally.. Not that Im saying Gale wouldn't...I think ;) hahaha

Definitely Peeta. He cares so much about Katniss and does everything he can to protective without getting too creepy-over-protective *ahem* Edward (coughs). Gale is nice but he cares more about himself than Katniss and give reckless advice to her. Gale is not quite devoted enough for me and Peeta is so sweet! Just my take, this is a great contest - I MUST have that pin!!! :P

Peeta, no question! I know Gale is Katniss' best friend and everything, but he does seem a little self-centered. And, to me, he always seems belligerent and way too focus on creating an uprising. Peeta, on the other hand, is so sweet! He's saved Katniss countless times and would even die for her! They're the star-crossed lovers of District 12!!!

Peeta, hands down. He's so sweet. I just see something in Peeta that I don't see in Gale. Gale is a likable friend but Peeta just wins my heart and vote.

During the Hunger Games I hated Peeta, Seriously I couldnt stand him, he was just so needy and overprotective and sometimes kind of cocky. And Gale was the perfect guy :D but then... I read Catching Fire and the everything compleatly changed, Peeta didnt seem so needy and I actually started to like him! but Gale... became annoying, needy, and err I kind think of any other words :S
Sooo my choise would be... (drumroll)
Peeta :) just like everyone else

Wow, I've read over most of the comments, and I'm practically a loner here. Surprisingly, I'd hands down choose Gale. In The Hunger Games you don't get much of his history or side, just the little blip of the morning before the reeping, but in Catching Fire you see the true Gale. The Gale Katniss is so very found of. Distant, cocky at times, and even arrogent, but always reliable. A cold blooded rebel. But, think of what he went trough the lies he had believed, had heard come out of Kaniss's mouth during the games. Trufully, he's a fighter, not needy, nor a coward. A fighter, and a lover. I stand for Gale. Thank you.

  11. Anonymous Said,

Personally, I'd always choose Gale. This is because he and Katniss have a deeper bond than her and Peeta. And remember how whenever Katniss was "in love" with Peeta, she was always thinking about Gale, and how he'd feel. She'll always have a place for Gale and Peeta in her heart, but I think Gale's place is bigger. Gale should be the one.

  12. Ian Said,

It need not be one or the other. Gale and Peeta are both strong, in their own ways; Gale seems to have a more outward, daring, physical strength, while Peeta's is silent but certain. Peeta and Gale are both ready to sacrifice everything, including their lives, for the people they love--for Katniss. You know they would "give way" for the other, if that person is with whom Katniss' happiness lies. They both challenge Katniss, as did Gale when he challenged her to stay and fight in District 12, and as did Peeta when he challenged her to be strong for the Quarter Quell and to survive for the people she loves and who love her. And last, they are both sources of comfort, security, and protection for Katniss. So in my view, if it were just on the basis of Gale and Peeta's merits, I cannot "choose".

If the question were, who do I want Katniss to end up with, well that's another story. For I am rooting for Peeta in that regard. :)

Peeta. He has been in love in Katniss almost their whole lives & has done so much to show how much he loves her. He is also a very good person because of the fact that he offered his winnings to Rue & Thresh's families. Plus him & Katniss now have something that most people haven't experienced or know how it is.

  15. Laura! Said,

I vote Peeta. We don't see much of Gale, because the bulk of the books happen with Peeta in the arena. Peeta has been loved Katniss from afar for so long, and they've been through so much together. That has to count for something!

  16. Peeta! I was more of a Gale girl after Hunger Games ( for sympathy reasons) but after Catching Fire I'm all Peeta. How can you not root for the guy who is forced to endure two Hunger Games and never seeks his own survival? Not even after Katniss gives him no hope and nothing to go on...most guys would give up and think about saving themselves but not Peeta. He's my pick!

Who is better, Peeta or Gale... well, that would depend on how you define 'better'. Both Peeta and Gale are courageous, bold, fiercely loyal to those they love, and devoted to Katniss. Both demonstrate their outstanding qualities even in the face of intense persecution from the Capitol.

Were it a choice of who is better for Katniss, I would say Gale. Katniss is connected to him in such a way that she doesn't second-guess herself. He's strong enough to realise, unlike Peeta, that Katniss doesn't always need protecting - instead he knows her so well that he immediately realised in the Reaping that the most important thing to Katniss was protecting Prim, and so he carried Prim away so that Katniss could protect her, even though this meant leaving the girl he loved to almost certain death.

But in terms of a better person? Easily Peeta. His uncalculating generosity in saving Katniss with the bread... risking death to team up with the Careers to protect her... offering his winnings to the families of Thresh and Rue... painting Rue in the meadow in front of the Gamekeepers and initiating the hand-holding among the tributes at the televised interview... he's good to the core. He's like this when manipulated by the Capitol, but trauma often brings out the best quality in people. I prefer to judge people by how they act everyday, not when they're faced with such dramatic moral showdowns... and Peeta's act of giving Katniss the bread, when he was just a child, wins it hands-down for me. Peeta for the win :)

  18. Lauren Said,

I definately think Katniss belongs with Gale. They BOTH loved each other first and it was true love. Peeta did have a crush on Katniss which was played upon by the capital, but Katniss has always thought of Peeta as a friend. Katniss can never get Gale out of her mind, she is always thinking about him, even when she has to kiss Peeta.

I believe Katniss should be with Peeta because they both share an unbreakable bond over the Hunger Games. No matter how much she loves Gale, he will never be able to fully understand her nightmares or fears and therefore can't understand her as he did before the Games. I love Gale and I believe he is a great friend to Katniss but her and Peeta's bond over the Hunger Games is just to strong for her to pull away from.

i think peeta(the bred boy) is better because of the way he shows his love for katniss. he always has somthing sweet, kind, or gental to say to her or about her. hes always finding ways to protect her so gental so... kissable. he holds her so close to her heart and they share a bond only the games can creat. he never thought about turning on her and telling panem she doesnt really love him even though hes in a love trance you cant get him out of. he offers to risk his own LIFE for her. i have one quetion for katniss how could you not love him the slightest bit, or do you??!!

But there's the catch, the handsome, brave and charming Gale(hunter boy) he has shared most of his life being her best friend, or had he spent his life wanting to be more. it never really say when he fell in love with her. I saw it coming and mostly everone else but how did did katniss not i dont know. one thing i have to ask him, would you risk your life and enter the games twice, go though your nightmares twice for katniss everdeen?

Well i would probably go with peeta (lover boy) but for now im as stuck between them as katniss, love in a little bit of both!

To say which one of them is better is pretty vague. Peeta and Gale are both in extremely tragic situations. They are both in love with the same girl and both got rejected as well. Peeta is more sensitive were as Gale can be seen as a more masculine figure.

Gale's a very interesting character. He is only at the beginning of the first book, hardly in the second, and is often only mentioned. He's smart, cares about his family, and isn't afraid in what he believes in. In my opinion Peeta only see one part of Katniss and has this vision of her that's somewhat false. Gale knows her inside and out. He's not afraid to get mad and stand up to her but has the sort of personality that is the missing piece to Katniss.

As for Peeta, he seems a little "wishy-washy" is you get my drift. Sure, he might be more conscious lead but has every advantage that Gale might not have. He does have his good moments though. He tolerates Katniss through some of her bad moments and forgives very easily.

I love both and it kills me to choose but I'd say Gale. I think he deserves to stay with Katniss after all he's been through emotionally and physically. Peeta's personality is so refined and seemingly perfect, I'd doubt that he'd have trouble getting a girl! So in short, I'm with Gale all the way! ;D

I vote Peeta, i mean Gale is an awesome friend for Katniss, but Peeta is the one that will last. I really hope she ends up with Peeta, because even when he didn't know her he was kind to her and didn't judge her, where as Gale was more hesitant to say anything. The Hunger Games brought Katniss and Peeta together, and he risked his life many times to save her, even if their romance was somewhat fake in the beginning

I think Peeta is the better choice for Katniss. He loves her enough to accept death in the arena so she may live.

I did feel bad for Gale, at first, because we really didn't get to know him in Hunger Games. He gave me the impression of a loyal friend.
So why did it take seeing Peeta and Katniss in the arena for him to express his feelings? He should have told her a long time ago.
I think their similarities is what drives Katniss to love Gale so much. If Gale and Katniss were together, they would defy the Capitol at every chance. Ultimately, their rebellious natures would get them killed.

That's why Katniss and Peeta make the perfect pair. He is the realistic thinker (Katniss is compulsive and rebellious). Peeta is a wonderful orator; whereas, Katniss uses brute force. He challenges her to think things out instead of striking into action and she pushes him to take a stand. The two complement eachother.

  24. Anonymous Said,

Gale is better for Katniss because they love eachother and have a bond. Peeta loves Katniss, but she only thinks of him as a friend or an on-screen lover.

I think Katniss should choose Peeta, i mean they were going to die together, that means that Peeta really cares for her, and Katniss was going to kill herself too so there is definatley something there.....

every1 of u is correct. peeta has that boyish charm and the ability to sweet talk any1. his smooth way with words has the ability to lift you out of any slump which is why i think he will always have an extremely special place in Kat's heart.
where as gale is the more hardened rebel. hes the complete same as katniss. the both think with there emotions and both are drawn to each other because of this.
but in the end peeta is the better choice. gales compulsive ways endanger katniss with every thought he takes. peeta actually does the complete opposite of gale he says katniss with every thought. his clever smart thinking is what kept them alive in the 2nd games. i am in no way discrediting gale but peeta is whats best for katniss.
and i no that the drawing is probably way over
