SHUTTER ISLAND

Artsy Fartsy Friday

A while back for my birthday, a friend of mine gave me a really wonderful 8.5 x 11 art piece.

For the most part, I like art that isn't completely polished and were the work seems be constantly in motion or subject to change. The poster I received was of a girl strumming a guitar trying to "find a melody for two." It was by an artist that has since gotten some well deserved popularity, Kurt Halsey.

Never heard of him? Check out his website.

His art isn't pretentious and often deplicts scenes which mirror every day young adult life.

.....they can even remind us of some of our favorite literary couples at times!

Musical Monday

Over the weekend, I came across a little band called Boy Kill Boy. Being from the US, I'd never heard of them. Apparently, they were somewhat big in England. They were even featured in 2005 on BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe's "Hottest Tracks in the World Today."

Unfortunately, the band split up in October of this year. This song, "No Conversation," comes from their last studio album, Stars and the Sea, which was recorded with Oasis producer Dave Sardy.

I think it's a pretty catchy song. Don't you?
